Welcome to the last month of the year! With so many December events in Nashville, it’s hard to know which ones are worth doing. Here are our suggestions for making the most of December in Nashville, from baking cookies to visiting reindeer.
🥣 Be a Baker & a Maker
- Decorate holiday cookies as a community at Cookie in the Kitchen on Dec. 17, Nicky’s Coal Fired on Dec. 20, Dozen Bakery on Dec. 21, and multiple dates for kids at JW Marriott.
- Give friends and family a handmade gift from you! Turnip Green Creative Reuse has several studio workshops this month, like charm earrings and winter cards. Handmade Studio TN has several pop-up workshops, from making a clay candy dish on Dec. 6, to crafting ceramic bowls on Dec. 11.
- Craft a holiday ornament at Poindexter on Dec. 10, or floral ornaments at Fait La Force Brewing and Jackalope Brewing on Dec. 12-13.
- Crafting not your thing? Then check out our favorite locally owned stores for buying gifts, shop from these holiday markets, find toys at these toy stores, and don’t forget my personal favorite gift — books from a local indie bookstore.
🧑🎄 Other Holiday Fun
- Go on a tour of Nashville’s best neighborhoods to see Christmas lights.
- Take a day trip to The Reindeer Farm in Bowling Green.
- Or enjoy Dollywood and the Smokies.
- See The Ornaments at Eastside Bowl for their annual “A Charlie Brown Christmas” show. Don’t forget to order shepherd’s pie!
- Head to Public Square Park for the city’s tree lighting on Dec. 5, and menorah lighting on Dec. 15.
- More Festival of Lights events include Hanukkah Fest on Dec. 7, Hanukkah Out East on Dec. 16 (be sure to click through to see their hilarious caution advisement), and Hanukkah dinners at Butcher and Bee from Dec. 20-22.
🌮 Not Everything Is About the Holidays
- Rank your favorite tacos during Taco Week from Dec. 8-14.
- Bring a dish to Trinity Community Commons on any Tuesday for a community potluck.
- Tumble to Brooklyn Bowl on Dec. 7 to watch the Pro Wrestling Symphony.
- Stock up on winter wear at a sweater weather clothing swap on Dec. 10.
- Learn how to salsa at Plaza Mariachi on Dec. 18.
