It’s time for another neighborhood shopping roundup! The Donelson neighborhood has been an area fixture for 150 years. Like all of Nashville, it's changed a lot over the past two decades. While I’m sure not everyone loves the updates, it feels more walkable to me now, and well served by local businesses.

It’s the time of year when many of us start thinking about hand writing cards, whether they're year-end holiday missives, short gift tags, or something in between. Paper and Ink is the go-to for all things calligraphy, so if you want to add some flair to your envelopes, this should be your first stop. The shelves are packed with journals, markers, and other art supplies. Check out the class offerings if you’re looking to improve your technique.

This small boutique sells fine jewelry, including antiques. They also make custom pieces, including reworking older pieces you already own, such as resetting gemstones into new settings. I love these charms that use a family recipe and the handwriting of whoever gave it to you, like an aunt, mom, or grandma. That’s a real one-of-a-kind gift!

Aromatherapy meets folk magic in this shop of magic supplies, herbs, candles, soaps, and other good-smelling products. Stock up on smudge sticks to address the energy in your home or beard oils to make grooming a breeze. The staff is knowledgeable about magical and spiritual approaches to life, making it a great place to explore and learn. They carry products to help you find love, money, and happiness, and who couldn’t use more of that right now?

This little house feels like a cottage tucked away in the woods, surrounded by a secret garden, but it's actually just blocks from Briley Parkway. It’s best known for afternoon tea, but this month, they’re open for cottage supper on Wednesday nights. Next week is Cuba Night.
